Vote for Hubspan in People's Choice Stevie Awards!

Hubspan has been nominated for Best New Product in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) category in the 2010 American Business Awards. We are also nominated in the People’s Choice Stevie Awards for Best Product or Service. Winners of the People’s Choice award are selected by the general public (aka the “people”), who vote for their favorite products through June 4, 2010. Winners will be announced on June 21.

The Stevie Awards were created to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide. The mission is to raise the profile of exemplary organizations and individuals among the press, the business community, and the general public. In short order the Stevie has become one of the world’s most coveted awards. The American Business Awards are governed by a Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors that features many of the leading figures in American business.

I also curious about the origin of the “Stevie Awards” name. Turns out, Stevie is taken from the name Stephen, which is derived from the Greek for “crowned.” The trophy is impressive. The crystal pyramid held aloft by Stevie represents the hierarchy of human needs, a system often represented as a pyramid that was developed in the 1960s by psychologist Abraham Maslow, who observed that after their basic needs are met, human beings seek the esteem of their peers.
