KIRKLAND (September 15, 2000) – Hubspan, an e-business infrastructure provider,
has joined the board of advisors for the UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and
Integration) Project. UDDI was formed by Ariba, IBM and Microsoft as a
comprehensive, open industry initiative enabling businesses to 1) discover each other,
and 2) define how they interact over the Internet and share information in a global
registry architecture. Hubspan joins industry leaders including as Andersen Consulting,
Boeing, CommerceOne, Compaq, Dell, SAP and Sun Microsystems in supporting the
initiative.

“We applaud UDDI open standards as a critical step in enabling business partners to
realize the potential of B2B e-commerce,” said Jim Neuburger, Hubspan’s chief operating
officer. “Hubspan is excited to bring its expertise as a provider of connectivity and
collaboration services to an advisory role on the UDDI project. It will play a key role in
helping us deliver our services which enable buyers and suppliers to transact business
rapidly and cost effectively, regardless of their technology choices, as well as allow
business partners to fully realize the vision of integrated data and process management
over the Internet.”

Hubspan is a hosted service for connecting businesses to online B2B exchanges,
marketplaces and private buyer networks. The company’s connectivity solutions help
bridge the communication barriers and technology gaps between business partners, as
well as provide the infrastructure to enable full supply chain collaboration. Through one
connection to the Hubspan service, businesses can reach any trading partner quickly and
cost effectively while also greatly reducing the cost and impact of maintenance and
change.

About UDDI

UDDI is the building block that will enable businesses to quickly, easily and dynamically
find and transact with one another via their preferred applications. UDDI is also a
framework for Web services integration that contains standards-based specifications for
service description and discovery. The UDDI specification takes advantage of World
Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards
such as Extensible Markup Language (XML), HTTP and Domain Name System (DNS)
protocols. Additionally, cross platform programming features are addressed by adopting
early versions of the proposed Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) messaging
specifications found at the W3C Web site.
