Business Process Management Standardization Efforts
Hubspan Joins BPMI.org Supporting Industry-Wide Business Process Management Standardization Efforts
SEATTLE, Wash. (May 15, 2001) – Hubspan, an e-business infrastructure provider,
today announced that it has joined the Business Process Management Initiative
(BPMI.org). An association of more than 100 top companies focused on business process
automation, BPMI.org is establishing open standards for the management of business
processes that span multiple applications and business partners.
“In complex external-value chains — where electronic transactions involve several
business partners and sophisticated IT environments — companies can gain or lose
valuable customers and revenue in minutes,” said Andrew Dent, chief technology officer.
“A company’s success depends on being able to manage the performance of business
processes. BPMI.org is developing standards to provide business process-to-business
process interoperability among companies. We support their efforts in this area and plan
to contribute the expertise we’ve acquired through implementations to this initiative.”
Leveraging it’s expertise in streamlining and connecting trading partners, Hubspan’s
ability to provide low risk, high value integration solutions will support BPMI.org in
developing specifications for describing end-to-end business processes. Hubspan is a
hosted service for connecting businesses to online supply chains, trading partners,
marketplaces and private buyer networks. The company’s connectivity solutions help
bridge the communication barriers and technology gaps between business partners, as
well as provide the infrastructure to enable full supply chain collaboration. Through one
connection to the Hubspan service, businesses can reach any trading partner quickly and
cost effectively while also greatly reducing the cost and impact of maintenance and
change.
