"Use the 'Cloud' Force, Luke"

In the Star Wars universe, the Force is an energy field that connects everything. The Jedi (the good guys) use the “light” side of the Force, while the Sith (the bad guys) use the “dark” side of the Force.
For Businesses, the Cloud (aka the Web, aka the Internet), like the Force, can connect everything. The Cloud, also like the Force, has a “light” side and a “dark” side. Those on the “light” side of the Cloud are the organizations that use the Cloud to help make their businesses run more effectively. Those on the “dark” side of the Cloud are the hackers, scammers, spammers and defrauders who try to use the Cloud to steal from and hurt those doing legitimate business.
The sign of a good SaaS provider is not just how well they use the “light” side of the Cloud, but also, how well they protect from the “dark” side of the Cloud.
So, when you are looking at cloud vendors, regardless of how you plan to use the service, make sure you fully understand how they approach security end to end. There are many well intentioned Jedi’s out there who have built interesting applications or platforms in the cloud, but unfortunately, they remain Padawan’s when it comes to dealing with the dark side of the force. You want to find the Jedi Knights in the cloud.
