Top 6 Questions Every CIO Should Ask a Cloud Vendor
Posted by Integration Man on February 26, 2010
Security in the cloud continues to be a hot topic for companies of all sizes. Hubspan VP of Engineering, Ian Huynh, is an expert on cloud security. He often works with companies to help them determine what solutions or infrastructure might makes sense in the cloud and how to make sure a cloud or SaaS vendor is up to snuff in regards to security.
Over the next few weeks, Ian will be going into detail around the top 6 questions every CIO (or IT manager) should ask a cloud vendor regarding security. Those questions are:
1. How does the vendor plan on securing your data?
2. What data do they secure and do they secure it both in motion and at rest?
3. What third-party groups audit their security? What compliance or other certifications do they possess?
4. How do they respond to intrusions?
5. What is their disaster recovery plan and how does data security figure into those plans?
6. What visibility do you have into the process?
In the meantime, you can hear Ian talking about these very issues in an interview with Network World’s Panorama podcast. The interview took place in the wake of the T-Mobile/Danger debacle back in October.
