Hubspan Ranks as one of the “Best Companies to Work For”

Not to undercut the incredible achievement of making the finalist list of Washington’s “Best Companies to Work For” by Seattle Business Magazine, but does the name of this award bug anyone else? One of my English bailiwicks is sentences that end in a preposition. But I guess calling this award the “Best Companies for which to Work” would sound silly, at least in America.
Therefore . . . I am proud to report that for the second year in a row, Hubspan has made the finalist list of the Best Companies to Work For in Washington State. We are ranked in the small business category based on our competitive benefits, work environment, employee educational courses and programs that recognize employees who provide outstanding customer service.
The judges evaluate employee survey results as well as other publicly available information. The surveys are confidential, and employees are encouraged to give honest evaluations. In addition to the thrill of winning, we have used the aggregated survey data to drive changes and improvements in our employee benefits, such as adding more training.
No company is perfect, but I can honestly say Hubspan works hard at providing employees with an environment and benefits that make a difference. Even in this economy, smart people have a choice in where they work, and I’m proud that so many talented people have chosen to work here. Many of our employees have been here for many years. For me, it’s all about the free parking : ).
Seriously, I came here three years ago and plan to stay because we have a great culture and a passionate group of people, and I learn something new every day. So here’s to my fellow Hubspanners.
And maybe I should just get over the ending a sentence in a preposition thing, since I have no problem starting a sentence with “And”, and even Winston Churchill supposedly rejected this rule of grammar. However, I will draw the line with the sentence, “Where’s it at?”.
